Bilbao to Barcelona

Bilbao to Barcelona

The north of spain, from the train it's a journey full of color as the graffiti flashes by along the route. Some artists paint while others spray their stories on walls and fences. Most of it must have taken many hours, so this means that the locals have allowed the art. What a great idea! Artists actually allowed to say what they think?
The stories painted on buildings speak in the universal language and it's not to hard to get the real meaning. Same goes on here as in america, poor getting poorer and rich just don't care.
However, in the west/south as you get to Barcelona there is a completely different type of art along the way. It's radical, loosely placed and looks as though it's not legally allowed. Either that or the artists are not as inspired as in the north. Must be some heavy drugs involved, because the art is more violent as it yells out at you even when you try to turn away.

Here in the north of Spain

Here in the north of Spain

Greeks in the north of Spain...what a concept.

Well, it's actually happened before...centuries ago and the romans too! However, their stay was brief, the Basque tribes in the north knew the mountianous terrain and fought strong... like all people would if in the situation of defending their homes.

I'd rather fight an enemy on my own turf... than give him the benefit of his!

If your hungry around noon, you can eat tapas to hold you over, (regular lunch time is 14:00) their one euro each and look like little sandwiches stuffed with all kinds of fun meat/cheese treats. Don't need to know the language... just point and drop your coin.

Tapas are great finger foods and every bar has them out for the choosing. The real food doesn't get served till 14:00, and dinner is at 21:00.

Our first experience with tapas was in San Sebastian, we were wandering along Calle de los Reyes Catolicos. The many bars along the way invited us to par-take in the food of faire.
